"Good ap but why are C and K together?" ****

This ap has both US and UK pronunciations. It also uses two styles of handwriting. I like that you can choose upper or lower case and cursive. I have a first grader and two preschoolers and feel this ap has something for each of them. My only criticism on the phonics is that both C and K are listed in the first group. They make the same sound, so when a child clicks on C when they hear the correct sound for C they are told they are wrong and must then try K and vice versa. Perhaps only allow one in the first group or add an image to assist.

Ironically, just today I'd been thinking about the problem outined in this review and finally decided how I was going to tackle it, so for it to appear as an issue in a review on the same day was kind of odd!
The solution is quite simple, and something I should have thought of before, I'll just make the right choice appear in the word game for that word. I think it's actually good to introduce sounds close together that make the same sound so children realise that the same sound can be made by different letters.
